By Uncle Jhonn
My life changed when I realized how much restoring joy in people’s lives could help me build real community on Facebook. My Facebook community knows me as “Uncle Jhonn”, and I love helping my community through DIY and renovation projects.
My Facebook strategy

What makes your Facebook community special?
I share my content in a lot of places, but Facebook is where I feel the strongest connection. The audience here isn’t just watching, they’re part of a real community. The growth on Facebook has been fast, but more importantly, the connections are deep. People don’t just scroll by; they engage, my content resonates, and they can’t wait to see what’s next.
What’s really unique is how my audience interacts. Not just with me, but with each other. I see people answering each other’s questions, sharing advice, and even speaking up for me when I can’t respond to every comment. It feels less like a bunch of people on their devices and more like a room full of neighbors, all looking out for each other.
What features on Facebook help you build community?
I keep it simple: reels, posts, and stories. And that actually works great for me. I try responding to as many comments as I can, and engaging with people in a genuine way.
Marketplace was also a big part of my early days on the platform. I’d build something, give it away for free, and get thousands of messages from people who wanted it. Even when only one person could get the item, I’d share free build plans with my community so everyone could join in.
A lot of the projects I take on come from Facebook DMs, Instagram, emails, or even just driving around my neighborhood. My goal is to make “Uncle Jhonn” accessible to anyone, anywhere. If someone needs help and I can do it, I’ll show up and do the work. No blueprint, no big plan, just a desire to help.
What are your top tips for creators looking to get started on Facebook?
1
Make content you love. If you don’t enjoy watching it, others won’t either. Tell great stories and put quality first.
2
Pace yourself. Don’t compare your journey to others. Focus on your own growth and take your time to create meaningful work.
3
Go pro if you want to grow. Treat your channel seriously, like a business. Have fun, but understand that building a strong, impactful community takes dedication.
